“Meet the Counsellors and Bus Captains” Event

If your child starts camp on July 2, 2018 then please join us at camp on Wednesday, June 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for our Counsellor and Bus Captain Meet and Greet. For campers starting at any other time throughout the summer, we invite you to come up on this day and look around the camp.

  • Meet your counsellors from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Meet your bus captains, both door-to-door and point-to-point, from 6:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Directors, nurses and our Special Needs Co-Ordinator will also be available if you have any questions.

Video Game Creator

Video Game Creator will challenge campers to create, design and play your own video games. Throughout the program, campers will be able to create a variety of different video games with multiple levels. At the end of the program each camper will receive a link where they can play their games and those of other campers online. Let the Games Begin!

LEARN-TO-BIKE – Weeks 7, 8 & 9
Learn-to-Bike was introduced last year and was a huge success! 98% of participants learned to ride in less than a week!
Campers in our Learn-To-Bike program will learn balancing, riding and agility skills from our specially trained staff through games and fun activities. Campers will ride twice a day, and receive both an instructional and recreational swim as well as participate in other Traditional Camp activities. Bikes and helmets are provided.

Green Acres is now accepting applications for staff for Summer 2018! 4, 6 and 8 week contracts are available. High School (completed Grade 10 or higher) and University opportunities available! Staff positions include counsellors, specialists, sports instructors, swim staff, riding staff and more! Working at Green Acres provides invaluable leadership experience that looks great on a resume all while being in a fun, challenging and supportive environment. Our goal is for campers and staff alike to have the most memorable summer experience!

High School Staff and LTPs are eligible to receive an exclusive $200.00 discount for any online, evening or private course for credit at Blyth Academy.
Parent & Tot
Our Parent & Tot Program gives parents and caregivers the opportunity to give their toddlers a taste of camp! An outdoor experience and a chance to enjoy the arts, gymnastics, farm, swimming, socializing and so much more! Register early as there are limited spaces (no drop-ins) and this program has been SOLD OUT for the past 4 years! For toddlers ages 16-42 months. Cost is $25/day (No Wagjag this year). Offered Weeks 2-7 from 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

RAPTORS AND MOVING UP IN THE STANDINGS
While still under the All-Star umbrella, our Raptors campers will be moving to their own home as an independent Unit. They will be well cared for by their own Unit Head and Assistant Unit Head, taking into consideration the unique needs of our younger SK and Grade 1 athletes. Raptors will be placed in a cabin group with 3 counselors and together they will participate in 10 sports per week. They will also enjoy a recreational swim daily which can be exchanged for an optional instructional swim. Don’t miss out on ball hockey, baseball, lacrosse and so much much more!
GREEN ACRES 365
Beat the cold this Winter with GA365 in-school lunchtime and after school programs! We offer a wide variety of Multi-Media, Craft, Science and Sport programs for students JK – Grade 6. Our programs are fun, interactive and hands-on! Choose from amazing programs such as Lego Robotics, Minecraft, Video Game Creator, Crazy Cooks, Babysitting Course, Wacky Science, Bling Your Room, Play with Clay and so much more! We are board-approved in York Region and Toronto and currently run programs in private schools across the GTA. We will work with your school’s administration or parent council to meet the school’s timing needs, interests and budgets. Our instructors are experienced, dynamic and have their Vulnerable Sector Screening. Our goal is to provide quality programs to the students while making the process easy for the school! Contact Kathy at the Camp Office 905-887-1400 to learn about bringing GA365 into your school!

Our Wahano-Ventures program is filling up quickly this year. Wahano-Ventures is an exclusive opportunity for Green Acres campers to try out all the amazing adventures of sleepover camp without signing up for a full overnight session. Feel at ease knowing that your child will be going to Camp Wahanowin with their Green Acres friends, while being supervised by trusted Green Acres counsellors, Wahanowin staff and Directors.

    PARENT ORIENTATION MEETING
    Tuesday, June 13th

    SAVE THE DATE! We understand that sending your child to camp for the first time can be a little overwhelming. Therefore, on Tuesday, June 13th at 7:00 p.m., we will be hosting our annual Parent Orientation Meeting at Camp Green Acres. This is a great opportunity for new and returning parents to ask questions, meet the Directors and understand how Green Acres really works. This event is for parents only.

    We are pleased to announce that Marni will be returning to lead our Parent & Tot program. This will be her 16th summer at Camp Green Acres, what a milestone! Joining her will be Ashley, a long time veteran Unit Head at GA. The two are so excited to be working together and to meet all our returning and new tots. Parents can look forward to participating in many activities such as crafts, music, pony rides, farm, cooking, gymnastics, waterslides and so much more!     THE GRADS AND ALUMNI UNIT IS TRULY A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE!

In particular, campers in the Grad unit are given more choices and special programming that sets them apart from the rest of camp.     AN INTENSIVE MUSICAL THEATRE SPECIALTY CAMP (COMPLETING GRADES 3-7)

    Broadway Bound? In weeks 7 & 8 be part of an amazing theatre production, Beauty & The Beast. Under the direction of trained theatre instructors, campers get to explore all aspects of musical theatre, including set and costume design, production, acting, singing and performing! During this two week program, campers will work together to stage the Beauty & The Beast musical and perform it in front of their peers. Register now or call the camp office to add this program.

    Haven’t decided on camp yet? Green Acres, the country in the city, offers a premium camp experience, with over 50 different activities, instructional swim, towel service and daily bussing.     2. Eagles & Seniors Overnights at Wahanowin
    Campers in the Eagles and Seniors Units will have the unique opportunity to experience one overnight at Camp Wahanowin in July in addition to their overnight at Green Acres in August.
    Eagles (Grade 2): July 13-14
    Seniors (Grades 3 & 4): July 24-25

    Under the supervision of Green Acres’ counsellors, Head Staff and Wahanowin Directors, campers will participate in all the amazing Wahanowin activities including their water park, water trampoline, canoeing, sailing, zipline, trapeze, tubing and so much more!! No need to register for this in advance, the permission form will be emailed to you a week prior to the event. The nominal $30 cost will remain the same as the Green Acres overnight.

    3. One amazing Family Night for All (For Both July & August Campers)!
    Parents and Campers are invited on Thursday, July 27th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm to experience all that Green Acres has to offer! Meet your child’s counsellors, head staff and swim instructors! Only starting your Camp adventure in August? What a great opportunity to meet your child’s counselors before their first day of Camp. Jumping Castles, Bounce Entertainment, food and lots of fun activities will be available for everyone to enjoy! Directors, nursing staff, and administrators will all be be onsite to answer any questions or just to say hi!

    Campers starting on July 3rd, there will be a Parent Meet & Greet on Wednesday June 28 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. (Meet both your counselors and bus captains)
